Hi all,

So I've been busy writing a new game based around the Mirage 'idea' for android on and off for the last couple of months. I have the client running in OpenGL, the networking, the server, the database persistence and an initial in-game 'test map' running that you can log in and scroll about on :)

... if anyone here is alive, that is. The UI is extremely basic but functional, stuff turns green when it's happy, and you are auto logged in when you create a new account, I just thought I'd show the screen for posterity :p

This is written to run on Android, and the screen resolution you are seeing in these screenshots is that of my Samsung Galaxy S2, all of these screenshots were taken running in debug on my PC to make life easier.

Re: Mirage Mobile :)

And finally, the maps are downloaded and rendered correctly, just got this working tonight. At the moment all you can do is drag the map around and look at it :p

[attachment=262]

I'm really proud of my server architecture, though as it's.. well.. a server, the only thing I can really show is the console output :p

I'll continue to work on this in my spare time, and will update back here if I remember, and if the place still exists :)

Let there be light ^^

Also, getting the menu system to display a random map that has players on it, if there are no players online it'll just choose a random map. Needs work and looks a bit crappy but I thought it might be cool.

Re: Mirage Mobile :)

Spent this evening registering a website and getting basic 'things' set up to facilitate promotion now that development is starting to pick up,

It's all a bit basic and shitty but it'll do for now me thinks

Re: Mirage Mobile :)

The desktop experience and android experience are starting to break away from each other, I've been working on the premise that people can play the same game on whatever platform they like, with the same people, but the experience will be tailored to each device.

In addition, lighting :D

Re: Mirage Mobile :)

I'm almost certain I'm the only person who comes here anymore :p I got bored on lunch at work so I sorted the menu out, was getting fed up of it burning a hole in my brain. Nothing fancy, lil bit of transparency and fire up the map renderer on a 'menu map' for now just to make it a bit more gamey.

All of the systems are done that take you through to in-game where you can now run around with all the other lemons online and... well that's about it really. Surprising amount of work to get here!

Re: Mirage Mobile :)

Fair amount of work been done polishing the scaling and how the desktop's game screen works, core things are starting to come together.

The first test server is going live next weekend if anyone is interested in coming and experiencing what I've been pouring my life into the last 6 months. Read about it here

I've put some serious man hours into working on the engine to get it playing nicely in high latency environments on android over the last 3 days, big steps ahead with the project.

I can't ever seem to scale the android screenshots very well. Oh well,

Read all about it here :)

Paranoid Android | Mirage Realms

If anyone fancies their hands at commissioned low res pixel art drop me a message as it's approaching time for me to start getting all that stuff together before I start mapping the world out.
